United Way recognizes CSVP as Agency of the Month

| June 16, 2015

COSHOCTON – For the last 43 years, The Coshocton Senior Volunteer Program has been offering Coshocton County seniors an opportunity to continue making a difference in our community.

The United Way would like to recognize CSVP (formerly RSVP), a partner agency since 2003, as its Agency of the Month.

“The program began with just a few senior citizens who wished to share with those in need out of the wisdom, knowledge and love they have gained throughout their lives,” said Program Coordinator Pat Shryock.

What started out as a few has now grown to include about 135 members providing volunteer services for 20 different worksites in Coshocton County, including the library, Johnson Humrickhouse Museum, Hospice, Red Cross, First Step, Four Paws, the Senior Center and the United Way as well as several schools and churches.

The program had its beginnings as the Retired Senior Volunteer Program in 1972 and operates out of the Coshocton Senior Center on Browns Lane. Last year, the program made some changes which allow it to provide opportunities to those less than 60 years of age as well.

CSVP is always in search of new volunteers who are interested in serving the community with a gift of their time and talents.

“I am very grateful for all that the volunteers have done at their worksites and the time and energy they have given back to the community,” Shryock said. “Who you are and what you have experienced can be used to enrich someone else’s life.”
