Local Papa John’s receives Franchise of the Year award
COSHOCTON – For the past three years, Papa John’s in Coshocton, along with two restaurants in Zanesville and one in Uhrichsville, all owned by Joe and Jenifer Hogue, were nominated for the Franchise of the Year Award. Last April at the annual Papa John’s conference in Florida, it was announced that the local franchise had been awarded this coveted award.
“It was a lot of shock,” said Noah Gallagher, Coshocton general manager. “We weren’t expecting it. Papa John’s has been the number one pizza for the last 13 to 15 years. Just to be nominated to be best of the best is an honor. But for them to say, you are the best of the best, it’s very humbling. It’s not just Jen and Joe, it’s all our team members; everyone working toward the same goal.”
Nominations are done by the franchise business director of each region. Out of the more than 5,000 Papa John’s nation-wide, only four receive this award, one in each region in both the United States and Canada.
“In our business, it’s all about the customer,” said Gallagher. “It’s doing the little things, making customers happy, getting them to come back, and building a relationship in the community.”
The owners received a crystal award that is proudly displayed by Joe and Jen.
“Joe is the type of owner, he’s everywhere and very involved in the business,” said Gallagher. “You see him out in the community or in the shop working. Jen’s the same way. They’re both very involved in the stores.”
Papa John’s has been open in Coshocton since 1996 and has done very well.
“It’s a give and take,” said Gallagher. “We try to support local organizations because we want to be involved in our community.”
The annual conference features owners and managers from Papa John’s all over the world. They have workshops during the day and fun activities each evening. Approximately 3,000 to 5,000 people attend.
“It’s about connecting people with other people,” said Gallagher. “We talk about what’s working and what’s not working. We’re there to build each other up and support each other.”
Gallagher said the community deserves thanks for helping them achieve this award.
“I would like to say thank you to our customers, family, and team members who made this possible,” said Gallagher. “Without them, the business doesn’t succeed.”
