Organization extends a helping hand

DSC_0001COSHOCTON – Volunteers packed hundreds of drawstring bags full of school supplies Aug. 14 for elementary through high school students. “It’s a good start for them,” said Cindy Carroll, acting ministry director for Women of Witness. “It doesn’t give them everything they need, but its close.” This was the 13th year for the Women of Witness Helping Hands School Supply Drive and the project is made possible through donations of school supplies and money from the community. “They are the reasons we can do this and Wal-Mart has especially been a great supporter,” Carroll said. The organization ended up with 575 bags to distribute Aug. 15 at New Life Ministries on South Seventh Street. “We feel blessed to be able to extend a helping hand to families who are struggling,” said Debbie Addy, president of Women of Witness. “We also pray over these bags and for the families and children who get them. It’s a way to spread God’s love.”
