Local Bounty Update
Good Morning,
Let it rain!!!! We sure needed that, it was getting rather dry, dusty and crisp out there. New vendors are joining our local bounty family and are ready to bring you their lovely products. Stop by and see what we have in store, Thursday and Friday 10-6, Sat. 9-1.
Vendor Updates:
Flying Pig Farm
Grilling season isn’t over yet! Try our hotdog/brat buns at your next cookout. We’ve baked them a little differently for easier slicing and toasting. Don’t forget to order your gluten-free or non-GMO baked goods at www.Facebook.com/OhioFlyingPigFarm or harmstrong333@gmail.com.
Hillbippie
So I am still working on getting tea stocked and am having label issues at the moment!! I hope to have my teas down to the bounty soon, check my Facebook for updates. Thanks for your patience!! Peace ✌️
Grandmason Turkeys
Within the next week and a half, I will begin supplying pasture raised turkey to Local Bounty. I feel that you get the best quality meat from a turkey that is raised under the least stress possible and as close to naturally as possibly. My birds are given free range at about five weeks and are outside on pasture until processing except at night when penned up for protection from predators. This results in leaner and better tasting meat because of the slower growth rate and no crowding. I will initially be supplying birds in the 10 to 15 lb range but will adjust size to demand. I also will supply ground turkey consisting of the breast and thigh meat and packaged parts – legs and wings – that do not go into the ground meat.
Keene Creek Farm
We are sorry for not having an update for you all regularly lately. Marissa is still battling a pregnancy condition that has left her bed/couch ridden for weeks. She is slowly improving though, so we are hopeful the worst is behind us. The first of August we learned that our primary butcher (Matt Miller who owned and operated Stan’s Meats) was killed in an accident. Our thoughts have been with the Millers as they re-open the butcher shop and move on with the family business while grieving. That delayed us getting more meat to you. But, this week we have back in stock pork chops (butter/garlic marinated and naked), ham loaf, and a few roasts. Our brat selection remains diverse (Cajun – not spicy, just have a little zip, mild Italian, cheese and fresh bratwurst seasoned). We’ve also restocked our ever-popular bulk sausage and patties. Bacon will not be ready for another week or two. It is busy taking a long nap in the smokehouse right now. Our market stalls need restocked too, but we probably won’t get to that until next week (Aunt M’s Monster Mix and our Rustic Herb PIzza Dough Mixes). Lastly, this week we welcomed farm bred piglets to the farm. The gilts we bred farrowed and we have lots of cute piglets up at the barn. The girls are infatuated with checking on them. We cannot believe summer is almost behind us. Mairin starts first grade next week…Sylvie will miss her playmate.
Strawberry Hill Farm
Tomatoes, tomatoes! The hot sun this week has ripened them fast, and we’ve taken a “bounty” of our certified organic heirloom tomatoes to the store. See our special table display—pick out the tomatoes you want and have them weighed at the checkout counter. We also have some green beans and Red Russian kale for sale this week. Now if we could just get some rain . .
Thank you,
