ResponsibleOhio bus tour stops in Coshocton
COSHOCTON – The Green Rush Bus made a stop in Coshocton Aug. 27 on the Fourth Street side of the courthouse to showcase the state’s future marijuana industry.
“We are going to all 88 counties and stopping at small towns, big cities and colleges to educate people and show them what we are about,” said Green Rush Bus Tour Spokesperson Haley Phillippi.
The tour is sponsored by ResponsibleOhio, the organization promoting Issue 3, which if passed by voters on Election Day, Tuesday, Nov. 3, will legalize medical marijuana and personal use marijuana for adults over 21.
“For years and years prohibition of marijuana in Ohio has failed and each year around $100 million is spent trying to enforce it,” Phillippi said. “This issue will provide tax revenue for Ohio, create jobs and help sick Ohioans.”
The Green Rush Bus will be making stops in Ohio up until Election Day.
“This is only our second week on the road and we already have received so much support,” Phillippi said. “We’ve stopped at three colleges and the students seem excited about Issue 3 and getting out and voting.”
According to projections by ResponsibleOhio, legalizing marijuana will be a billion-dollar industry that will bring a total of $1,496,581 to Coshocton County and its townships and municipalities in new tax revenue per year to the community by the time the market stabilizes in 2020.
The marijuana industry in Ohio will create ample opportunities for entrepreneurship and employment, with around 10,000 new, well-paying jobs projected statewide. Ohioans will have the opportunity to own and operate retail stores and medical dispensaries, testing labs and product manufacturing facilities. There will be employment opportunities at these facilities and at the state’s 10 marijuana growing facilities in Butler, Clermont, Franklin, Hamilton, Licking, Lorain, Lucas, Delaware, Stark, and Summit counties.
“This issue has never been on the ballot before,” Phillippi said. “There have been multiple groups who have collected signatures but none have reached the number necessary to make it on the ballot.”
