Coshocton Footlight Players announce upcoming season
COSHOCTON – The Coshocton Footlight Players are pleased to announce Season 67, “A Season of Love and Laughter,” to be performed at Triple Locks Theater, located at 685 N. Whitewoman Street, Coshocton, OH.
The inaugural play of the season is “Love Letters”, written by A.R. Gurney and directed by Susan Metz. In “Love Letters”, Andrew Makepeace Ladd III and Melissa Gardner, both born to wealth and position, are childhood friends whose lifelong correspondence begins with birthday party thank-you notes and summer camp postcards and continues through the following 50 years. The letters exchanged and shared with the audience chronical their lives, the joys, the sorrows, the complexities, in the ever-changing kaleidoscope of life.
Audiences will be treated to the rare privilege of experiencing the talents of the legendary Bettsy and Jim Gauerke on stage together in these beloved roles as we celebrate and pay tribute to Bettsy and Jim’s 60 years of involvement with Footlight Players. Performance dates are Oct. 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24 at 8 p.m. Tickets will go on sale for “Love Letters” on Sept. 28 for members and Sept. 29 to the general public.
The holiday season offering, “Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas”, is a collection of 15 holiday stories from the international best-selling author of “All I Really Need to Know I Learned in Kindergarten”, Robert Fulghum. The stories have been crafted into an engaging evening of storytelling and song. This charming show takes a funny, heartwarming and often poignant look at the struggle to find the spirit of the holidays amid the avalanche of commercialism, stress and chaos that crashes down every December. Directed by Susan Metz, “Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas”, will be performed on the Triple Locks Theater stage on Dec. 4, 5, 11, 12, 18, 19 at 8 p.m.
Auditions for “Uh-Oh, Here Comes Christmas” will be Sunday, Sept. 27 at 2 p.m. at Triple Locks Theater. The cast is comprised of three men and two women ages 18 and up.
The spring play, “Everybody Loves Opal”, depicts the comedic tale of Opal Kronkie, a recluse, who lives in a tumbledown house at the edge of the municipal dump. The general disarray of her establishment is aggravated by the fact that Opal collects things. Anything that can fit in her little red wagon goes home with her. Opal is an optimist and treats all with unfailing kindness and has an abiding faith in the goodness of human nature. Into her strange world enters, Gloria, Bradford and Solomon, a band of misfits and thieves. They decide Opal is the answer to their shattered finances and embark upon a number of elaborate schemes involving insurance and a variety of accidents. Despite their best attempts to turn the tides, Opal radiates kindness, affection and, strangely enough, gratitude.
Director, Nathan Mayse will be conducting auditions for a cast of one woman age 20s-30s,one woman age 50s-70s, one man ages 20s-30s, and three men ages 30s-70s on Sunday, Jan. 10, 2016 at 2 p.m. and Monday, Jan. 11, 2016 at 7 p.m.
Performance dates for “Everybody Loves Opal” are March 3,4,10,11,17,18 at 8 p.m.
To round out the season with laughter is “Incorruptible”, directed by Susan Gordon. Set in Priseaux, France, c. 1250 A.D., this comedy of the Dark Ages will delight modern audiences, as a group of destitute monks take a lesson from a larcenous one-eyed minstrel, who teaches them an outrageous new way to pay old debts.
According to the American Theater, this show is, “A lightning-fast farce, rich in both verbal and physical humor.”
Auditions will be March 20 at 2 p.m. and March 21 at 7 p.m. for a cast of three women (one 20s, one 40s, one 50+) and five men of various ages. The character of Jack must sing a little, dance a little, juggle and do magic tricks. The young woman must sing a little and dance a little.
“Incorruptible” will be presented at Triple Locks Theater on May 6, 7, 13, 14, 20, 21 at 8 p.m.
Tickets cost $12 for adults and $7 for students. The Season Pass membership rate of $40 for adults and $25 for students provides a cost savings off the regular price of admission and provides members the opportunity to make reservations in advance of the general public.
