Renowned leader in rural economic growth to present at AOP-20 meeting

| September 9, 2015

CAMBRIDGE – The Appalachian Ohio P-20 Council is inviting all public officials and area business and industry leaders to a special presentation by John Molinaro, President and CEO of the Appalachian Partnership for Economic Growth (APEG) at the Cambridge Paul R Brown Epic Center, Zane State College on Sept. 18, 2015, at 10 a.m. He will discuss the job market forecast in southeast Ohio and the importance of preparing students for those jobs.
Molinaro has been recognized as a leader in growing the economies of rural areas through holistic, sustainable placed-based approaches, and has focused on economic and community development throughout his career. Before joining APEG, Molinaro was co-director of the Community Strategies Group at the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C. Before joining the Aspen Institute, he spent nearly 20 years in Minnesota where he launched the West Central Initiative as a start-up, leading efforts in the realm of business retention and expansion, workforce development, fundraising, assistance to manufacturers and regional planning.
Initial funding for APEG came from a JobsOhio Network grant and was matched with private business contributions. The grant allows APEG to serve the 25-county southeast JobsOhio region within Appalachian Ohio. Three additional counties are served by APEG staff through the Ohio Manufacturing Extension Program (MEP). APEG acts as the “front-door” for business access to JobsOhio and Ohio Development Services Agency business incentive and support programs using an application and review process to determine priority. There is no cost to attend but registration at aop20.org is encouraged to ensure adequate seating.
