Attendance large at family fun day
COSHOCTON – The Barefoot Mile Coshocton sponsored a Family Fun Day on Saturday, Sept. 12 at the Himebaugh Lot. At 10 a.m., those gathered walked a mile around the park to raise awareness of human trafficking in the United States and around the world. In attendance was Dr. Jeff Brodsky who has been barefoot for five years. Brodsky said his decision to be barefoot started in Cambodia on July 19, 2010. He was in Cambodia trying to rescue girls involved in human trafficking, some as young as 4-years-old, when he saw children living in a garbage dump who were completely barefoot. “I went back to my room, took off my shoes, and made a commitment to be barefoot for one year so I could walk how these children walk every day,” he said. “After that year was up, I heard a small voice inside of my head that said, keep going.” Some at the Family Fun Day chose to walk the mile barefoot as well, even in the cold rain.
