RVHS class of 1966 holds gathering at the fair
COSHOCTON – Monday, Oct. 5 was a beautiful day for making memories at the Coshocton County Fair and for reminiscing with old friends.
The River View High School class of 1966 decided to use the fair as a place to gather to start planning its 50th reunion.
“We are planning something big,” said Seneth Stockli Darr.
The meeting at the fair was organized by Cheryl Clark Kuhn.
“A bunch of us were on Facebook and were talking and decided to show up together at the River View eat stand,” she said.
There were 200 students in the class of 1966, the first to graduate from River View High School, but unfortunately at least 18 of them have passed away.
“We’ve had reunions off and on, but since next year is our 50th there is no doubt we are going to have one then,” Kuhn said.
Betty Ogle Donley was one of 14 classmates who showed up to help start discussions about the class’ big reunion.
“I was curious to see how many people would show up,” she said. “It’s been a lot of fun so far. We’ve all gotten older though so I’ve had to look at people three times and say to myself ‘who is that,’ but once they started talking about something then I knew.”
Bernie Bookless also joked that their memories weren’t what they used to be.
“Everything is new because we don’t remember anything,” he said.
Kuhn hopes that they can continue the fair time reunion.
“This is the first year we’ve done something like this and we hope to build on it,” she said. “It’s a nice time of year to get together.”
