Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office receives $29,000 grant
COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office received a $29,083.24 grant Oct. 8 that will be used to increase traffic safety on Coshocton County’s roadways.
The Ohio Department of Public Safety and the Office of Criminal Justice Services are tailored to help law enforcement agencies with their traffic enforcement.
The number of fatal crashes went up this year in Coshocton County, so the need to step up enforcement is evident.
The grant is available for law enforcement agencies that have more than two traffic-related fatalities per year for three years.
The Sheriff’s Office will enforce all seat belt and child restraint laws on all traffic stops made under this grant, conduct mandatory blitzes for saturation patrols and OVI checkpoints and participate in the “Click It or Ticket” (CIOT) mobilization and the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” (DSOGPO) alcohol crackdown.
