Hughes charged with importuning
COSHOCTON – On Nov. 25, at approximately 5:30 p.m., undercover officers met an adult male who believed he was there to meet a 12-year-old girl that he had solicited for sex through Facebook. As officers began moving in to make the arrest, the suspect began to flee the area in his car and in doing so, rammed an undercover sheriff’s vehicle.
The fleeing suspect led officers on a chase through the City of Coshocton and into West Lafayette, where a West Lafayette officer successfully used spike strips on the suspect’s vehicle. The pursuit came to an end with a minor crash on State Route 93, just north of the village. The male suspect was then taken into custody without further incident and is currently being held pending the filing of formal charges.
This investigation is a collaborative effort between the West Lafayette Police Department, Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office and The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office.
