Robert Herron

Robert “Bob” Eugene Herron, 90, of West Lafayette, died Tuesday, December 01, 2015 at Aultman Hospital in Canton. He was born July 16, 1925 in Uhrichsville to the late Mark and Hazel (Morrow) Herron. He was in the Army and served in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. He attained the Victory medal in WWII as well as three bronze stars and Philippine Liberation ribbon. He came out of the Army as a Corporal. He was employed at Ben Cookson in New Philadelphia for 30 years or more. He was a member of the American Legion Thomas C. Montgomery Post 431 of Newcomerstown. He was married to Elva “Blondie” Ridgeway Herron for 55 years. Blondie passed on July 25, 2001. He then married Cathy (Salmon) on July 26, 2008, who survives. Also surviving is children, Bobbi Opphile of Newcomerstown, Dianne Craigo of West Lafayette, Roy (Jaime) Salmon of Fresno, Amber Hart of West Lafayette, and Carla Chaney of New Philadelphia; as well as 11 grandchildren and four great grand children along with many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by son in law, Bill Peddicord. He is preceded in death by his sons, James “Jim”

Herron and Donald “Doc” Herron and daughter, Sandra Art Peddicord as well as two son in laws, Fred Opphill and Rick Craigo. Services will be held on Saturday December, 5, 2015 at 1pm at Addy Funeral Home. The visitation will occur on Saturday December 5,2015 from 11am to 1pm at Addy Funeral Home.

Military services conducted by the Newcomerstown Veterans Honor Guard will be held at the Funeral Home following the service. The graveside committal will be held at a later date at West Lawn Cemetery in Newcomerstown.
