Congress sends Obamacare repeal to Obama’s desk
WASHINGTON, DC – The House recently voted on H.R. 3172, the Restoring Americans’ Healthcare Freedom Reconciliation Act, which repeals Obamacare and eliminates taxpayer funding of organizations that provide abortion procedures and increases funding for Community Health Centers to provide comprehensive health care for women.
H.R. 3172 repeals the individual mandate, the employer mandate, the “Cadillac tax,” which penalizes high-cost plans, the tax on Health Savings Accounts (HSAs), and the medical device tax. It also prevents federal funding to groups like Planned Parenthood that provide abortion services and sells the body parts of aborted fetuses. Instead, this bill will provide $235 million to the Community Health Center Program to support more than 13,000 clinics that provides comprehensive health care for women.
After the vote, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:
“I hear from constituents and small business owners from my district almost every day who are struggling to comply with the law and find affordable health insurance for their employees and families. Shortly after the President signed this disastrous healthcare takeover into law, he began delaying or changing parts of Obamacare for political reasons. This is a bad law to begin with and is fundamentally unworkable and unaffordable. Today we are sending a bill to the President’s desk to provide relief for hard working Ohioans by repealing Obamacare. We have to focus on market-oriented reforms that will lower costs of healthcare and strengthen the doctor-patient relationship.”
