Message from the Manager

You can help us.  We need to know what kinds of classes would interest you, our customers, in the coming year.  We like to inform, instruct, and just plain have a good time with local food.  So please reply with some suggestions for us, or you can call us at 740-622-1400.  As always, thanks for your support.

Vendor Updates

Flying Pig Farm

This week treat your Valentine to some french toast made with our cinnamon raisin bread. We also have delicious, chocolatey Texas sheet cake or raspberry truffles for gift giving. We will take orders for truffles for delivery on Thursday. Please order by Wednesday at 6pm. We also have your favorite breads, buns, blueberry scones and pies. Have a terrific week and thank you for shopping local!

Ashcraft Acres

Elaine says, the freezer is full of lamb, great time of the year for some lamb stew!

I have 2 pairs of Handknit CHORE Mittens, they are all American Wool, handknit, then felted…perfect for working outside in cold weather, or sleigh riding, hands will NOT be cold in these!!

Strawberry Hill Farm

Looks like we’re in for some frigid weather again, but we’ll still have plenty of eggs at the store this week. Our young hens are snug and happy in the chicken house, with plenty of space to roam. Mary’s buttery shortbread is back at the store this week, too, in honor of Valentine’s Day. Give some to your sweetie or share it with the family for a special dessert. Happy Valentine’s Day to all of you!

Mullet Apiaries

Did you know that honey can be a good exfoliator? A simple recipe for your face is to take a teaspoon of honey and 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda in the palm of your hand. Use your fingers to combine and warm the mixture then smooth on your face. Leave on for 5-10 minutes, then rinse with warm water. Smoooth… Just a reminder for those trying to go plastic-free, our new glass bottles with the beeswax seal are in the store now. As always, we appreciate your business.

Vendor 7 Update

This week we have a variety of greens from the greenhouse. Collards, Swiss chard, arugula, Boston bib lettuce, sorrel, dill, fennel, compact basil, oregano, onion greens, and we also have a new batch of dried Italian herbs.

Bob’s (in a ) Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

We will have eggs at the market on Wednesday morning this week.  We also have some large garlic bulbs for sale.  With these I like to make roasted garlic.  I don’t even peel the cloves, just break the bulbs apart, discard any loose skins, and put them on a cookie sheet with olive oil and salt.  I bake at 400 degrees F. for about 10 to 15 minutes.  I like to cut up a large peeled onion into half inch rings and roast with the garlic cloves.

As always, thanks for your support of local food.
