Bringing our aviation system into the 21st Century
WASHINGTON, DC – The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee passed the Aviation Innovation, Reform and Reauthorization Act (AIRR Act) out of committee this evening, sending the legislation to the House for final consideration and passage.
The AIRR Act focuses on modernizing our nation’s airport infrastructure, providing measures to increase safety, and reforming the air traffic control system to utilize 21st century technology.
After the committee’s vote, Congressman Bob Gibbs released the following statement:
“I am pleased to see the committee vote to move this bill for consideration by the House. I am confident this bill will move towards an aviation sector that is safe, efficient, and able to implement current technology to provide for safer air travel and relieve congestion. With passenger utilization increasing from three quarters of a billion people to over a billion passengers every year, we must ensure that, in the interest of safety, our air traffic systems are equipped with state of the art equipment.”
