Presbyterians present musical meditation ‘Lamb of God’

| March 9, 2016

COSHOCTON – The Presbyterian Church, North Fourth and Chestnut streets, will present the Lenten cantata, “Lamb of God” as part of the 10:30 a.m. worship on Sunday, March 13 – the day of the return to Daylight Saving Time.

Lenten anthems will be sung by the Chancel Choir, Crusaders Choir, Celebration Singers, Moving Spirit, and Cantaré, led by Charles R. Snyder and accompanied by Ann A. Leppla and Caroline S. Heading. The music will be woven together with narration read by Andrea Bairas, Gordon Kendall, Grace Millspaugh, Maggie Myers, Heidi Wagner, and Carl Wilke. Mark D. Wagner will be the organist. Other musicians will include cantor Kiera McPeck, and instrumentalists Michael Belt, Michael Border, Sarah Kittner, and Raynor Shoemaker. Stewart Henderson and Pastor Jonathan T. Carlisle will be liturgists.

Snyder has drawn the narration from the writings of Peter Marshall (1902-1949), the Scottish-American clergyman who gained national attention as pastor of the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington D.C., and as Chaplain of the U.S. Senate. He is also remembered from the biography, “A Man Called Peter,” written by his widow Catherine Marshall, and the 1955 film adapted from it.

All are invited to share in this musical worship service for Lent. Preschool childcare will be provided, and ample parking is available.
