COSHOCTON – Montessori Preschool has wanted to build a playground for a long time. They are now well on their way to doing just that thanks to generous donations such as the one they recently received from Coshocton Rotary.

Rotary President Eric Taggart presented Kacey Lahna, president of Montessori’s board and Stephanie Fender, school administrator, with a $2,500 donation at their March 8 meeting.

“A lot of us have had children go to Montessori so I’m pretty excited about this,” Taggart said. “It’s a pretty cool playground.”

Fender said the area for the playground is already fenced in and they plan to add a small play set designed for 2 to 5-year-olds that will have rubber filler under and around it.

“It’s a big project,” she said. “We’ve applied for funding from different grants, foundations and organizations. Every little bit we get helps and this donation today means so much to us. We want the playground to be used for years to come.”

Montessori Preschool is located at The Coshocton Presbyterian Church and has 48 children during the day and 12-14 in their afternoon program.

“We are full this year and expect to be full next year,” Lahna said.

Anyone wishing to make a donation to Montessori’s playground project can send checks designated for it to: 142 N. Fourth St., Coshocton, OH 43812. The school also can be reached at 740-622-3127.

“The plan is to have the playground completed this spring so the kids who helped with it this year can enjoy it,” Lahna said.
