Auction signs removed at SportZone
COSHOCTON – Employees of the SportZone in Coshocton removed the signs announcing a scheduled March 31 auction of the property on Friday, March 11. Signs have also been removed from four other properties in Coshocton that are also scheduled to be auctioned on the 31st.
The auction has been ordered by Franklin County Common Pleas Judge Julie Lynch.
SportZone owner Charles Moon told The Beacon in an interview on March 11 how it felt to remove the signs. “It’s exciting for me and it’s exciting for Coshocton and it’s exciting for our employees. We have come to an understanding with the bank and we’ve been instructed to take the signs down. They are not moving forward with the sale which was originally scheduled for the last day of this month and we here at the SportZone are waiting for folks to come in and have some good food.”
Moon talked about the support from the Coshocton community, “It’s very rewarding to know that not only – well, I guess we need to start with the fact that we’re not really sure who has the SportZone because the people in Coshocton think that it’s their SportZone and that’s fine because it is – and so it’s very gratifying to hear all the positive comments and to hear all the folks who are concerned about what the future was for the restaurant as well as for the employees here. So it’s a very positive thing and it’s very moving to see the community step out and offer this type of support.”
The Beacon asked Charles Moon about how the situation and the process transpired. Moon said, “I can tell you some things. The things I can tell you are that this particular process is stopped at this point in time. I can’t make a lot of comments. I can’t speak for the bank that we’re doing business with. That’s not something I can do. However, I can tell you that it’s been a struggle but we are on the side of believing that it’s happening very positively for us right now.”
