Rivalry week brings out school spirit

| October 26, 2012

COSHOCTON – Freshman Zac Mathias cheers on senior Nicki Carling and her school spirit Friday, Oct. 26, at Coshocton High School.

Coshocton took on River View High School Friday night on the football field and used a Pink Out to get students excited and honor Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

“My grandmother died of Breast Cancer and pink is my favorite color so I decided to go all out,” Carling said.

Student Council sold pink “Beat the Bears” t-shirts and a pink dress up contest was held Friday for grades seven through 12. Carling was the high school winner.

Activities for the week were sponsored by Student Council and Key Club.

While Coshocton students were being encouraged to keep their pink on for the game, River View was hoping for a Black Out. They also sold “Beat Coshocton” t-shirts and had a pep rally.

The students showed that the rivalry was friendly by having both bands play together on the field.

This week Ridgewood and Newcomerstown also celebrated their friendly rivalry by having the cheerleaders from both schools perform together before their big game on Oct. 26.
