COSHOCTON – Good morning local foodies!
Even though it’s gloomy out, we’re still going to do our walk this morning.
If you are interested in walking, stop by when it’s convenient for you. Just let us know if you are coming so we can make sure you have a healthy snack.
If there is a class that you would like to see at local Bounty please message us or send us an email. Have a great week! Thank you for your support!

Vendor Updates
Strawberry Hill Farm
In addition to eggs this week we have also brought a few packages of rhubarb to Local Bounty. In other farm news, our hens finally got moved out on the pasture last night. Their usual early April move was first delayed because of cold weather and the grass being behind in growth. Then, two weeks ago, Ron was about to move the hens when he discovered a wren nesting in one of the laying boxes in the movable chicken house in the pasture. In the nest were three baby birds, and Ron didn’t want to disturb them. Now the fledglings have left the nest, and the pasture chicken house belongs to the big birds—our laying hens!
Thanks,
Ron and Mary
Flying Pig Farm
This week we have cherry, blueberry, blackberry and strawberry rhubarb pie and cranberry and cranberry almond scones. If you get tired of the dreary weather, warm up with some soup! We have easy soup mixes that pair well with many of the meats at Local Bounty. Have you checked out our farm page? Follow us at www.Facebook.com/OhioFlyingPigFarm. You can message us an order and we’ll have it for you Tuesday morning!
Keene Creek Farm
The fresh pork cuts off the hogs we butchered last week will be available at Local Bounty this week including the ever popular garlic and butter marinated pork chops. Sausage patties and smoked sausage links (nitrate free) are back in the freezer too. The other smoked meats (bacon, Canadian bacon, and hams for ham loaf) are in the middle of their 10 day nap in the smokehouse. We will keep you posted on their arrival. Did you know that our pork travels just 3 1/2 miles from our farm to you? We feel extremely fortunate to have Local Bounty making truly local products available to everyone in our community so close to our farm.
Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens
We will have eggs at Local Bounty on Tuesday this week.
Eggs for breakfast? Of course, why not? But greens for breakfast? Maybe not! Yes, dark greens like kale, spinach, arugula, and endive are really good for breakfast paired with eggs. Saute a handful or two of chopped kale or any combination of dark greens in about a tablespoon of olive oil. Add some salad tomatoes cut in half. Stir fry until the greens start to wilt and change color. Plop it all on the plate with your eggs (cooked any way you like). Eggs on top of greens are good, too. Lemon juice or organic cider vinegar splashed on the greens makes it even better. If you’re trying to cut back on wheat, or maybe you eat gluten-free, eat this breakfast and you won’t even miss the toast.
We appreciate our loyal customers. Thank you.
