The mower is running. Well, sort of. When you turn the key and nothing happens that would seem to indicate a problem. A swift bang on the hood – or starter in this case – has it up and running in no time. It is quite feasible that we have eked out about as much grass cutting with this particular machine that we are going to eke out. But the new positive battery cable (the one that replaced the part that was not long enough) is hooked up and working fine. I even found a misplaced jersey glove while working on said mower. I wondered why it was running a bit hot.
If it is even possible to write these words, “There is a lot going on in Coshocton County” right now. The April to May time period could possibly be the busiest that our community experiences at any point of the year – except for the week of the county fair. But when you combine high school proms, upcoming graduations, various dinners, Dogwood Festival, high school musicals and reunions, Relay for Life, youth soccer, high school track, baseball, softball and our senior youth thinking about graduation day and their lives beyond high school – that’s a lot.
How ‘bout those Cavs? Next up is either Atlanta or Boston. The Cavs can take either one and should be the Eastern Conference Champion. It’s those teams from out west – Golden State or San Antonio – that present the problem. However, with Stephen Curry nursing an injured knee and scheduled to have an MRI on Monday, April 25, the Warriors title defense could be in jeopardy. Don’t think that this opens up a smooth road to a championship for the Cavs though. And even if it did, don’t you think that LeBron would prefer to win it with a healthy Curry on the court? Any other way is tainted in my opinion – again, provided that the Warriors are the opponent. And that’s no longer guaranteed. The Spurs, after all, made quick work of the Grizzlies. The finals begin on June 2.
Let’s turn our attention to baseball. The Indians are sitting in a nice spot – smack dab in the middle of the Central division – the Reds are in fourth place in the central division of the National League just behind the Bucs. The Cubs – yes, the Cubs are in first and coming off a no hitter last Thursday against the Reds. Local land owner Dale Earnhardt Jr. is in seventh place in the NASCAR Sprint Cup series standings. Go Junior!
