WEST LAFAYETTE – A Patriot Motorized 18×12 U.S. Flag now hangs in the gym at Ridgewood High School thanks to the Janusian Club.

“It’s such a nice patriotic symbol,” said club member Irene Miller.

Members of the club saw a flag like it used at a ball game at another school in Ridgewood’s league and wanted to bring it to RHS as one of their community service projects.

The flag is remote controlled and can be lowered for any event held in the gym.

“We believe the first time it is going to be used is for graduation,” Miller said.

The Janusian Club raises money for projects through its annual Ladies Night Out.

“We are able to do these things because the community supports us,” said club member Mary Lou Overholt.

This year’s Ladies Night Out was sold out before the club even got its posters out and people asked to be put on a waiting list for next year’s tickets.

Money raised from Ladies Night Out also helps the Janusian Club fund a scholarship, provide smoke detectors to kindergarteners and batteries to first graders.

“It’s a wonderful feeling to help,” said club member Marsha Duling.
