Are you tired of the incessant noise? The constant buzzing and whirring? If you answered with a resounding yes, you can bask in this moment of revelation and inspiration – the next time that the Cicadas – both the 13 and 17 year variety – will be here at the same time will no doubt also be the next time that a major (think Indians, Browns or Cavs) Cleveland sports franchise wins a championship – that is in the year 2115. Apparently the little red eyed buggers co-emerge (is that even a word – buggers not co-emerge?) every 221 years. That’s a long time.
Thus, that brings us to the year 2115. I stand firm by my above prediction. I do not see – as much as I want to – the Cavs winning this series against Golden State. The Warriors just seem too fluid and strong on defense. Game 2 on Sunday night was pretty much a must win game for the Cavs. Sure, like many of you, I want the Cavs to bring a championship to the shores of Lake Erie but . . .
The Balloon Festival hits town this weekend. Great entertainment, good food, and hopefully pleasant balloon launching weather will hit Coshocton County for the enjoyment of all. The Hot Air Balloon Festival committee has put in a lot of volunteer hours to ensure that kids and adults of all ages can enjoy the festivities. The committee has really gone all out for the entertainment portion of the festival. So bring the family out to the fairgrounds this Thursday, Friday and Saturday for the fun and food.

As we now head full bore into the summer months – even though summer is still officially almost two weeks away, that means Vacation Bible School, swimming, bike riding, picnics, ice cream socials and more are plentiful throughout the community.
For those that attended Miss Jennifer’s dance recital this past weekend it will be something they will long remember with fondness and tears as the recital was dedicated to Jennifer’s mother, Becky Lowe.
One weekend before the auditorium at Coshocton High School was also filled with emotion as the Coshocton senior class of 2016 graduated and a special recognition and diploma was presented to Mike Newell. Earlier in the week, graduates from the Coshocton Opportunity School celebrated receiving their diplomas.
And as alumni banquets complete the school year and are held for West Lafayette, Union, Conesville, Keene, Roscoe and other county schools that have long ceased being high schools, more memories and no doubt in many cases, a few tears are shed for those that are no longer with us in this world.
Regardless of your alma mater and how long ago that was, one thing is certain, the last time that you walk the halls of your school before graduating is a special time not easily – or maybe ever – forgotten.
