BYESVILLE – The Area Agency on Aging will have a Chronic Pain Self-management Workshop beginning Wednesday, Nov. 7.

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Program is a valuable tool to anyone who is living with chronic pain, no matter what the reason. Many times doctors tell their patients that they will have to live with chronic pain, but how do people do this when they are suffering on a daily basis?

The Chronic Pain Self-Management Workshop covers chronic pain from a variety of conditions, such as: Those with low back pain, neck pain, fibromyalgia, accidents, injuries and numerous other life events that can cause one to be living with chronic pain. Learning how to manage pain so that you can live a full and satisfying life can be a daily challenge. Everyone with chronic pain is different; there is no one treatment that will fit every person.

Each workshop runs for six weeks, meeting weekly for two and one half hours per session.  Sessions begin at 1 p.m. and run until 3:30 p.m. In the six weeks, you will learn different techniques to help you manage your pain better and will also learn new ideas that may really work for your particular type of pain.
