Helen M. Cullison
Helen M. (VanWinkle) Cullison, age 100, died on June 12, 2016 at 1:40 p.m. surrounded by her family. Helen had celebrated her 100th birthday on June 4, 2016.
She was born on June 4, 1916, in Licking County, Fallsberry Township, to Charles E. VanWinkle and Adella O. McCullough VanWinkle.
Helen was the oldest of 7 children.
She attended Goshen one-room Grade School and graduated from Martinsburg High School on May 15, 1932.
Helen lived her entire life on a farm helping with the farm chores, milking cows, raising sheep and cattle and driving the tractor. She was active in 4H as an advisor and as a member of the Fallsburg Township Election Board. She was a kind woman and cared deeply for her family. She enjoyed sharing stories from her childhood during horse and buggy days. Her family will miss her stories and her sense of humor.
She was a member of the Perry Chapel Baptist Church.
On April 18, 1936, she married Ernest J. Cullison who preceded her in death on June 15, 1981.
Helen and Ernest were the parents of two daughters, Wanda J. Cullison Donaker and Dorothy C. Cullison McCoy.
Helen is survived by her daughter Dorothy McCoy of Warsaw, grandchildren Connie Donaker of Newark, Kelly Dugan of Gambier, Mark (Jamie) Donaker of Warsaw, Michele (Delroy) Hindel of Frazeysburg, Michael (Kimberly) McCoy of Coshocton, Max (Kelly) Donaker and Monte McCoy of Warsaw, 10 great grandchildren, 6 great-great grandchildren, son-in-law, Harold Donaker and very special daughter-in-law, Wanda Ashcraft Donaker of Frazeysburg, two sisters-in-law, Alice VanWinkle of Utica and Margaret VanWinkle of Ashland and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Helen was predeceased by her daughter, Wanda, son-in law William McCoy, grandson-in-law John Dugan, brothers George, Roger, Vaughn, Harold and Lowell VanWinkle and sister Lucille Gault.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 – 1:00 PM at Dilley-Lasater Funeral Home in Bladensburg, where funeral services will begin at 1:00 PM with Pastor David Fowls officiating. Burial will follow in Fallsburg Cemetery.
