Marilyn M. Wright
WEST LAFAYETTE- Marilyn Melva Wright, 91, a resident of Lafayette Pointe Care Center, died on September 14, 2016 at the care center. She passed away peacefully in her sleep.
She and her twin sister Marion Grace were born on June 13, 1925 in Ashtabula, Ohio to the late Lilah Sprague Bates and Kenneth Shufelt Bates. They grew up in the Depression, but neither felt times were hard. With their grandparents and their favorite aunts across the street, their life was full of family and fun. They both graduated from Ashtabula High School in 1943 and then went on to cosmetology training in Cleveland. Her sister Marion passed away in March 2016.
Marilyn married Ned B. Wright on November 30, 1946 and they initially lived in Erie, Pennsylvania. They moved to Warsaw a couple years later. They owned and operated a Sinclair gas station together and then Ned went into the lumber business with his father. That business eventually evolved into Wright Lumber Company in Nellie. Marilyn and Ned worked together to build this business. Marilyn did all the bookkeeping while raising her family. Marilyn was also known as an exquisite seamstress, quilter and knitter. She made wedding dresses, quilts, and sweaters for her family and friends.
She had three children: Patricia (Gary) Fridley of Northfield, Illinois, Mary Lacy (deceased), and Eric Wright of Mount Vernon. She has three grandchildren: Sarah Gault (Ryan) Bagley of Libertyville, Illinois, Megan Gault (Justin) Wright of Jacksonville, North Carolina and John Michael Wilson of Chicago, Illinois. She has three great-grandchildren: Grace Ann Bagley, Matthew Kenneth Bagley and Johnathan James Wright.
A service will be held this Saturday, September 17th at 3:30 pm at Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw followed by a supper buffet at the Warehouse in Coshocton.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 219 N. 4th Street Coshocton, OH 43812. For those that cannot make a donation, please express your joy and admiration for handmade items wherever you find them.
