Amateur Radio Operators to participate in Simulated Emergency Test

| September 30, 2016

COSHOCTON – Simulated Emergency Test for Amateur Radio Operators or SET will take place from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1.

Amateur Operators from Coshocton County will participate in a test of emergency communications capabilities. Members of the Amateur Radio Emergency Service (ARES) will test their skills and equipment in order to prepare themselves to be able to assist the local Emergency Management Agency and other county agencies in times of disaster.

In preparation for such disasters, Coshocton County Hams will join operators from around the country, sending and receiving test messages between these agencies, across the state, and around the country.

This SET is sponsored by the American Radio Relay League. Local Coshocton County ARES is also a participant in the National Preparedness Month.
