Arthur I. Burris
COSHOCTON – Arthur I. Burris, 80, passed away Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
Art was born in Bedford Township on October 30, 1935 to Logan and Elsie (Fry) Burris. He was an Aeronautic Engineer, and worked on significant projects such as the Stealth Bomber, and the Project Mercury spacecraft in which John Glenn orbited Earth. He worked for Boeing for over 20 years. He loved politics, and was a member of the John Birch Society.
He was also a member of the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene and a United States Marine Corps. Veteran, serving from 1958 to 1961. He was very athletic too. He was a dedicated weight lifter, and enjoyed water skiing.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella Ann (Henry) Burris of Coshocton, daughters; Samantha Jane Burris of Coshocton, and Amy (Brian) Slone of Troy, step children; Jesse (Rochelle) Conrad of Coshocton, and Sara (James) Kulbacki of Fresno, grandchildren; River Pearl Timmons, Kyle, Amanda, Jordan, and Jonathan Slone, Keiran, Miles, and Genevieve Conrad, Morgan Moody, and Emma and Ava Kulbacki, brothers; Logan (Jean) Burris Jr., and Donis Burris, sisters; Carol Visser, and Sue Matson, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters; Pauline Kempf, and Betty Miller.
Calling hours will be held from 5-7 p.m. on Friday, October 21 at the Fischer Funeral Home in Warsaw. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the Coshocton Church of the Nazarene. www.fischerfuneralhome.com
