Lester S. Arnold
Lester S. Arnold, 84, of Coshocton passed away at his residence on Wednesday November 21, 2012.
Les was born in Muskingum County on July 21, 1928 to the late L. Burr and Lillie (Shirer) Arnold. He attended Keene Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in Dresden in 1946.
Les served in the US Navy from 1946 to 1948. He graduated from Ohio University in 1954 and was a teacher at Roosevelt Jr. High School in Zanesville for several years. In 1962, he joined General Electric Company in Coshocton where he held numerous positions. He retired as manager of the Mica Department in 1993 with 31 years of service.
For over 50 years, he enjoyed fishing vacations on Manitoulin Island, Canada. After his retirement, he and his wife spent full summers on Manitoulin. In addition to fishing, Lester’s hobbies included golf, mushroom hunting, wood working, and wood carving. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Coshocton Elks Lodge, V.F.W. and American Legion.
Lester is survived by his loving wife of 54 years Marilyn Lou (King) Arnold; a sister Barbara Foster of Coshocton; sister in law Juanita (Davis) Lutz of Dresden; brother in law Robert Wright of Farmington, MI; many nieces and nephews.
Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his first wife Mary (McBride) Arnold; brother Jack Arnold; sisters Helen Edwards and Martha Jean Wright; sister in law Bonnie (Lacy) Arnold; brothers in law Donald King; Jack Foster, Robert Edwards and John “Jack” Davis; mother and father in law Walt and Carrie King; nephew John “Jack” Davis Jr.
Friends may call at the Miller Funeral Home, 639 Main St., Coshocton on Saturday November 24, 2012 from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Funeral services for Lester will be held at Grace United Methodist Church, 422 Walnut St., Coshocton on Sunday at 2:00 PM with Pastor Jan Coffman officiating. Interment will follow in Dresden Cemetery with military honors being performed.
