Bridge on CR 493 to be replaced
COSHOCTON – Coshocton County Engineer Frederick T. Wachtel met with county commissioners on Monday, Dec. 19 to discuss the County Road 493 bridge replacement build that is scheduled for construction next year. The bridge will be funded by a federal grant requiring 20 percent local match, the local match being $112,500 for this $400,000 project. Licking County currently has money from its Credit Bridge Program that they are selling at $0.50 on the dollar. The commissioners signed a contract to purchase $56,250 from that program to put toward the local match for the bridge on County Road 493.
Wachtel also shared the annual mileage certification stating that ODOT has adjusted the roads in this county by 21.12 feet or four-thousandths of a mile on County Road 19.
The county engineer also gave a brief snow patrol policy update. The county is under contract through ODOT for 1,550 tons of salt. So far, 400 have been delivered and another 350 have been ordered. A total of 1,600 tons can be stored on site. Salt is now $48.18 per ton which is down about $30 from last year. Although it is not known how many tons have been dispersed on the roads in the county so far this year, Wachtel said that his crew has been out four times this winter.
