Massages offered at senior center
COSHOCTON – For many years, Carol Bookless has offered chair massage therapy at the Coshocton Senior Center. After her retirement recently, Bookless will be replaced by Kristin Cheney, who has been a licensed massage therapist since 2002 and recently opened her own practice in Sheree’s Salon and Spa at 237 Main St., Coshocton.
“On a very basic level, massages help with stress management and relaxation but can also help with circulation, muscle tone, and blood flow to the muscles,” said Cheney. “You’ll notice range of motion improvement after a couple of sessions and also pain management improvement.”
Cheney performs myofascial massage techniques which are repetitive movements and the usage of pressure tools. The cost for a massage at the senior center and the community center is $5 for a 25-minute massage.
“It’s nice to be able to help people and help them feel better and manage their stress,” said Cheney. “It’s something I’ve been drawn to at an early age. I believe in the practice and I believe in the results.”
Cheney will be providing chair massage therapy on the second and fourth Thursday of each month. To make an appointment, contact the senior center at 740-622-4852.
