Croft to continue football career at Wooster

WARSAW – Since the first time he stepped on a football field, Caden Croft has dreamed of playing college ball.
That dream will become a reality this fall when he joins the football team at the College of Wooster.
“It was the first school I visited and after I went to a few others I knew for sure it was the one for me,” Croft said. “They have a good science and history program and I might major in one or the other or dual major.”
The River View High School senior played quarterback for the Black Bears and signed his letter of intent to continue playing the game he loves in college on Feb. 1 in the library at RVHS.
“I like the teamwork that goes into football,” Croft said. “We didn’t have the best season going 0-10, but the guys stuck with it and pushed through the adversity.”
Caden is the son of Leslie and Whit Croft who couldn’t be prouder of their son.
“I’m beyond thrilled for him,” Leslie said. “He’s dreamed of this since he started playing football and Wooster is a great place for him athletically and academically. Since he’s a quarterback I’m always a little nervous when he takes the field, but I’ve enjoyed watching him grow as young man, as a leader and in his knowledge of the game.”
Whit agreed with his wife.
“It’s an exciting day,” he said. “He did a lot of hard work to get to this point.”
River View’s head football coach Bob Forgrave also attended Caden’s signing.
“He’s one of the strongest leaders and hardest workers I’ve had during my time here,” Forgrave said. “I’m happy for him and his family. Anytime you can you use athletics to further your education is a win/win situation and Caden is a winner.”
