Local swimmers compete in SEOSL Championship

COSHOCTON – The River View and Coshocton swim teams were among 15 schools that competed in the South Eastern Ohio Swim League Championship at Ohio University in Athens on Feb. 4. The River View girls and boys both finished third overall, while the Coshocton girls finished eighth and their boys 11th.

Winning their events for River View were Nate Cooper in the 200 IM (2:17.76) and the 100 Back (59.65), and Caleb Fischer in the 100 Breast (1:07.00). Also medaling was Lindsey Ashcraft, second in both the 100 Breast (1:18.15) and  the 200 IM (2:32.07), Shawna Shroyer was third (1:13.45) in the 100 Back, Jake Mitchell, second in both the 50 Free (24.03) and in the 100 Fly (59.93), the girls 200 Medley Relay of Shroyer, Ashcraft, Josie Fornara, and Jesse Vandenbark (2:17.50) was third and the boys Medley (1:49.67) and 200 Free Relay (1:38.72) of Cooper, Fischer, Mitchell, and RJ Hammond were both second.

Additionally for the Black Bears, Shroyer was fourth (2:21.95), and Emily Jacobs eighth (2:34.02) in the 200 Free, Vandenbark was eighth (29.38) in the 50 Free, Fornara was eighth (1:19.06) in the 100 Fly, the group of Maggie Snyder, Karlie Lahna, Rachel Vandenbark, and Learke Nordentoft was 10th (2:20.25) in the 200 Free Relay, Kenzie Hudson was fifth (1:19.) in the 100 Back, Kristian Meek was sixth (1:32.29) in the 100 Breast, the group of Fornara, Jacobs, Hudson, and Vandenbark was sixth (4:43.44) in the 400 Free Relay, Dylan Harsh was seventh (2:19.40), and Kaden Poorman 10th (2:28.24) in the 200 Free, Hammond was seventh (25.57) in the 50 Free, Zared Tumblin was eighth (1:00.64) in the 100 Free, Harsh was sixth (6:37.52), the group of Lane Wahl, Trase Berry, Harsh, and Tumblin was ninth (1:52.49) in the 200 Free Relay, and Tumblin, Berry, Harsh, and Hammond were fifth (4:02.74) in the 400 Free Relay.

Top 10 finishers for the Coshocton Redskin swimmers were: Emily Casey – fifth (1:13.12) in the 100 Fly and seventh (6:32.18) in the 500 Free, Carlie Williams – ninth (1:09.32) in the 100 Free, the 200 Free Relay of Bella Hall, Hannah Nelson, Reanna Ackley, and Casey – seventh (2:11.86), the 400 Free Relay of Taylor Holderbaum, Williams, Ackley, and Casey – seventh (4:58.39), Corban Maust – fifth (58.55) in the 100 Free, and Ben Uhl – eighth (6:56.15) in the 500 Free.

Both schools will swim at the sectional tournament at Steubenville High School on Saturday, Feb. 11.
