Body recovered in Jefferson Township

On Feb. 7, 2017, special agents from the Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General contacted the office in reference to a possible questioned death. Deputies and detectives from the Coshocton County Sheriff’s Office began an investigation regarding the disappearance and suspected death of a local elderly woman.

On Feb. 8, 2017, a search warrant was executed on a property in Jefferson Twp, Coshocton County, where remains of a human body were recovered. The remains, believed to be of the missing woman, were transported to the Licking County Coroner’s Office for further examination and official identification.

At this time two adults, one male and one female, remain in custody at the Coshocton County Justice Center awaiting the filing of formal charges in reference to this incident.

Assisting the sheriff’s office in this ongoing investigation are The Social Security Administration Office of Inspector General, The Coshocton County Prosecutor’s Office, Coshocton County Coroner’s Office, BCI, Licking County Coroner’s Office, and William Alberts Excavating.
