Local Bounty Update

| February 14, 2017

COSHOCTON – Manager’s Note: Good Morning Local Foodies!

We have another new vendor: Norka Sparkling Beverages. Made with pure sugar cane 100% natural flavors, caffeine free, and very low in sodium and gluten free. I would like to welcome Michael to Local Bounty family.

Michael has revised an icon soda in Akron. Based in Akron, Ohio and last produced in 1962, The NORKA Company is back in business and reviving its original great-tasting sparkling beverages: Cherry strawberry, orange, ginger ale, and root beer.

Originally founded by the Paquin family in 1924, Norka (Akron spelled backwards) was a HomeTown favorite with Akronites for nearly 40 years. Today, the same classic flavors are once again available for everyone to enjoy. Michael also said they are working on a lemon lime sparkling water with stevia.

Flying Pig Farm

We have plenty of grass-fed ground beef left! Stop in and stock up while it lasts. We also have different cuts of pastured chicken supplemented with non-GMO grain. Thighs, drumsticks, wings and skinless/boneless breasts. Our whole chickens (whole and precut then packaged whole) are running low. If you’d like to roast or fry a chicken, now is the time. Don’t forget we have 5 lbs. bags of backs for bone broth. We also have heart, liver and gizzard packages by the pound. Thanks for shopping local!

Hand Hewn Farm

Hello!

We will have pork once again at Local Bounty! On Thursday we will bring in a variety of cuts including chops, bacon, roasts and sausage! We will also bring in more yummy chicken. As always our meats are grown on pasture and supplemented with non-gmo feed. If you are interested in purchasing whole chickens or rabbit, please contact us directly! We also have a new meat box medley that would supply a family of four with meats for a month at a discounted price. Check out our website atwww.handhewnfarm.com where you can read our latest blog! Happy February friends!

Strawberry Hill Farm

Happy Valentine’s Day from all of us at the farm: Ron, Mary, Chris, and Erin! Want something special to take home to your sweetie(s) today? Pick up a plate of Mary’s chocolate chip oatmeal cookies. Or take home a loaf of Erin’s oatmeal bread. It’s great toasted and served with Hartzler butter and our strawberry jam. We have plenty of eggs at the store, too, and jars of our strawberry jam.

Keene Creek Farm

We use two different processors for our pork. The majority of the time we haul them to Stan’s Meats in Berlin, but sometimes we haul a hog to Shirer’s Meats in Adamsville. These two processors offer different cut options. Last week we hauled hogs to both processors, so we will have a full list of cuts available soon. We’ve ordered cheese brats, naked chops, little piggies (small sausage links) and bulk salt, pepper and sage sausage. We will also have bacon and more beer brats very soon (hopefully by the end of the week). It’s not too late to order an Easter ham. There is a sign-up sheet on our freezer at Local Bounty; deadline to order is February 20. Many thanks for the opportunity to help feed you and yours.

Bob’s Pickle Patch/ Verda’s Hens

This week on Thursday we will bring in small cherry pies, sourdough bread, and dilly sourdough bread.

We also have lots of eggs from our pastured and free-range chickens.  Personally, I like the idea of free-range chickens, but some of ours have gone too far! There is a small flock that has discovered a taste for cat food, so I can’t keep food for the kitties in the garage now. So far, no one has tried to cross the road, so that’s good.

Thank you for shopping at Local Bounty.

As always, thanks for your support.
