Emma I. McCrea
Emma I. McCrea, age 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Fresno on February 28, 2017. Emma was the 7th child born to Russell and Iva Olinger on October 23, 1932 in Chili.
She graduated from Fresno High School in 1950 and married James H. McCrea on August 10, 1958. He preceded her in death on October 1, 1995. Emma worked at Jones Metal after graduating from high school and in later years, worked at College Park in West Lafayette. She was an active member of the Fresno United Methodist Church for almost 60 years. Emma loved spending time with her family, attending the activities of her children and grandchildren, taking care of family and friends, sewing, cleaning, pulling weeds and mowing her yard.
Emma is survived by her children, Peggy A. Stevens, Newcomerstown, Ohio, Lori L. Gress, West Lafayette, Ohio, Sue E. (Terry) McInerney, Coshocton, Ohio, and James L. (Kelly) McCrea, West Lafayette, Ohio; her grandchildren Nathan Gress, Christi (Nate) Carpenter, Travis (Emily) McInerney, Bryan (Tanya) McInerney, Mark McInerney, Austin McCrea and Spencer McCrea, her great grandchildren Jack, Adam, Molly and Sara McInerney, Annie Grace, Lucy and Emma McInerney, with one more addition coming in July, brothers Harvey (Reva) Olinger, Larry (Marge) Olinger and Darrell (Stephanie) Olinger, and sisters-in-law, Martha “Bobbie” McCrea and Betty McCrea and many nieces and nephews. Emma will be missed most of all by her special companion and dog, Rusty.
Along with her parents and husband, Emma was preceded in death by her sons-in-law Ben Stevens and Mike Gress, and her brothers and sisters Lucille Miller, Roger Olinger, Clifford Olinger, Franklin Olinger, and Peg McCrea.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 3, 2017 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Given-Dawson-Paisley Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2017 at 11:00 am at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Eggan officiating. Burial will follow at Coshocton County Memory Gardens.
For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made in Emma’s name to Community Hospice or to Fresno United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be provided at the funeral home.
