Buehler’s employee receives ambassador award
COSHOCTON – Dave Allen from Buehler’s corporate office had the pleasure of presenting Nick Thompson with the company’s ambassador award on Wednesday afternoon, March 29 at the Coshocton store.
“This is the fun part because usually when they come in they are terrified,” he said. “When they see all the managers standing here they think they got fired or something.”
Thompson’s manager tricked him into coming in early and gathered a crowd to meet him at the entrance to Buehler’s. He tried to casually slip past the group, but they stopped him and brought him over to receive his award, which he had no idea he was even up for.
“We present two ambassador awards a year to employees in the company that are nominated by their co-workers,” Allen said. “They receive $250 in Buehler’s gift cards, a plaque and a card signed by everyone.”
Thompson, who has worked at Buehler’s since June 2015, was nominated for the award, which is not just for work on the job, but also for what an employee does in the community, because of a medical mission trip he took to Guatemala.
“This is such an honor,” Thompson said. “I had no idea everyone was waiting for me.”
His grandparents Dennis and Charlotte Thompson were on hand for the presentation and were both very proud of him.
“When he first talked about going to Guatemala we weren’t so sure about letting him go, but we’re glad we did,” Charlotte said. “He learned a lot and had fun too.”
Nick is a senior at River View High School and is taking post secondary classes. His plans for after graduation are to study occupational therapy.
