Ridgewood board approves supplemental contracts

WEST LAFAYETTE – The Ridgewood Local Schools Board of Education met in regular session on April 24.

Tony Griffith, 529 E. Union Ave., West Lafayette, addressed the board on a personnel issue. The issue was referred to be submitted at the May meeting in executive session.

Commendations and recognition were given to students and staff:

  • Jordy Lower who recently participated in the State Geography Bee. He is only one of three students from Ridgewood to do so;
  • Julia Grimmet who won the Edward E. Montgomery Jr. Piano Competition Junior Division;
  • The Sound of Music entire cast, crew, and staff;
  • Terry Guilliams recognized and chosen as Chamber of Commerce Coshocton County Employee of the year.

New Business: Bus bids will be completed through the OMERESA co-operative bus bidding procedure.

The treasurer’s report was approved as given.

The superintendent’s report was given and action approved on:

  • Substitute list of teachers
  • Retirement of: RMS teacher Terry Guilliams at the end of the school year; Jan Manos, custodian; Becky Selders, aide.
  • Resignations: Doug Patterson, head girls basketball coach;

Chad Massie, head wrestling coach.

  • Summer employment of Jared Lindig, Eliza Haynes, Kevin Bethel, Phillip Shannon, and Kyle Bethel.
  • Approved classified substitutes: Tim Grace, Rachel Shroyer, and Britney Cunningham.
  • Supplemental Contracts were issued to: Wendy Croy, head cross country; Craig Reveal, head girls golf; John Slusser, head football; Brenda McCoy, head volleyball;  Judd Bone, head soccer;  Heather Kinsey, RHS cheerleaders; Kim Baker, RMS cheerleaders;  Thad Youngen, RHS assistant cross country;  Lester McCurdy, RMS golf;  Chris Cabot, RHS assistant football;  Jamie McCrea, head boys basketball; Travis Simmons, RHS JV boys basketball; Ryan Gress, RHS freshmen boys basketball;  Troy Dolick , eighth grade boys basketball; Nate Carpenter, RHS assistant football; Chad Lahna, RHS assistant football; Todd Cabot, freshman football; Dusty Shroyer, freshman football;  Travis Simmons, eighth grade football; Shane Stiteler, RMS assistant football; Linda Ondayko, seventh grade volleyball;  Keith Matz, RHS assistant soccer; Jacque McPherson, RMS student council;  Debbie Carpenter, RHS Accelerated Reader;  Debbie Carpenter, RMS Accelerated Reader;  Jeff Larr, RES Accelerated Reader;  Jacque McPherson, RMS yearbook;  Gordon Arney, RES Student Council.
  • Volunteers were approved pending proper certification: Amanda Weingarth, Dick Reveal, Jason Lahna, Jason Prater, Chad Massie, Dan Smith, Patty Shepherd, Ryan Gress, Sam Carpenter, Joe Holmes, Caleb Tingle, Erica Olinger.
  • Approved a list of Athletic Event Workers, Schorr Architects to oversee the RHS Library project, FFA students to attend FFA State Convention on May 3-5. 2017, extended day field trip of Mrs. Katie Bond’s classroom on May 12, 2017, Washington D.C. trip volunteers, bus bids, school calendar for 2017-2018, Tracy Wentz to Title I teaching position for 2017-2018, VOIP agreement with OMERESA from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2022, Haley Evans, RHS Show Choir/Drama Music Director 2016-2017 Retro, and first reading of revised policies and procedures as presented.

Mr. Reibesell updated the board on some legislative items that will impact RLSD concerning funding.

The next regular board meeting will be at 7 p.m. Monday May 15, in the administrative building located at 301 S. Oak St.
