Community center adds putt-putt golf
COSHOCTON – The Coshocton Community Center will celebrate the grand opening of its putt-putt golf course this weekend.
From 2 to 6 p.m. Saturday, May 13 the community is invited to come test out the nine hole indoor course, which will be available for the public to use for free. There also will be a snow cone truck at the center that day, t-shirt giveaways and a few additional surprises.
“We wanted a family activity and were able to do this because of grant money awarded to us from the Charles E. and Dorothy S. Bechtol Fund,” said Ray Hardesty, community center director.
The community center is housed at the senior center on Brown’s Lane and plans are to have the golf course open from 2 to 6 p.m. every Saturday.
“We’ve been able to purchase quite a few other games like shuffleboard and foosball and will have them set up at that time too,” Hardesty said.
He is very appreciative of the support people have given the community center.
“I think we’ve proven our initial thought that a community center was needed in our town,” Hardesty said.
People with suggestions for programs to be offered at the community center are welcome to contact Hardesty at 740-622-4852 or e-mail him at rayhardesty@knohoco.org.
“I think the greatest thing about this is people have come up with a lot of the ideas here,” Hardesty said. “We are really open to pretty much anything within reason.”
