Coshocton Youth Chorale spring finale concert set for Friday, May 26
COSHOCTON — Fifty-six area high school students in the Coshocton Youth Chorale will perform their spring finale concert on Friday, May 26 at 7:30 p.m. at the Roscoe United Methodist Church. The Coshocton Youth Chorale is sponsored by the Coshocton Community Choir, and is directed by Charles R. Snyder. The group is comprised of singers from local and surrounding county high schools.
The Youth Chorale, celebrating its fifteenth season, is conducted by Charles R. Snyder and accompanied by Dickie R. Barrick. The Chorale is sponsored by the Coshocton Community Choir, a Coshocton County musical tradition that began in 1971. Joshua J. Senn is the assistant conductor, Mark D. Wagner is a musical assistant, and Erin R. Jobes serves as the coordinator for the group.
Titled “One Song,” the concert will include sacred and contemporary compositions, show tunes, spirituals, folk songs, American classics and patriotic favorites. Graduating seniors will be recognized, and the audience will be invited to greet the young musicians at a reception following the concert. Youth Chorale alumni will be invited to join the current Chorale in singing the final set.
Twenty-two members of the group are graduating seniors. They include: Beth Allen – Ridgewood; Michael Belt – River View; Michael Border – River View; Jadyn Cline – River View; Jordan Conner – Ridgewood; Daniel Cullison – River View; MacKenzie Doughty – River View; DJ Esselburn – River View; Everett Hall – River View; Jacob Heading – Coshocton; Emma Hildreth – Licking Heights; Noah Kaser – Coshocton; Michael Kelley – Ridgewood; Alexis Kittel- Coshocton; Morgan Lawrence – River View; Gretchen Lozowski – River View; Nathan Moses – Ridgewood; Maggie Myers – Coshocton; Danielle Newman – River View; Jared Norman – Ridgewood; Shawn Smalley – Ridgewood; and Kaity Tish – West Holmes.
The seniors in this group have many positive memories of singing in this choir.
“The Coshocton Youth Chorale is a wonderful group to be a part of that requires little time commitment each week,” said Maggie Myers, a four-year member of the choir. “The memories and friends made will be with you forever.”
“You learn new things every day,” said Kaity Tish, a two-year member. “They are always willing to help and there’s never a dull moment; everyone has fun.”
“It’s like joining another family,” said Jadyn Cline, a one year member.
“As a member of the Youth Chorale, I have grown so much as a musician and even more as a person,” said Beth Allen, a two year member.
“You improve so much musically and make amazing friends,” said DJ Esselburn, a two year member.
“What reason do you have not to join?” said Jacob Heading, a 4 year member. “Wrong! That’s only an excuse.”
Two-year member, Noah Kaser said, “You join a family.”
“Great musical experience and great life lessons from Mr. Snyder,” said Daniel Cullison, a one year member.
The Coshocton Youth Chorale Spring Finale Concert on May 26 at 7:30 p.m. is free to attend. A freewill offering will be collected during the concert. The concert features many favorites and choral classics that audience members will enjoy.
