Safety council presents scholarships

scholarship winnersCOSHOCTON – The steering committee for the Coshocton County Chamber of Commerce Safety Council wanted to give back to the community this year by awarding scholarships to area seniors going into a safety related or health field. Their original plan was to present three $500 scholarships so one senior at each local high school received one. They ended up being so impressed with those who applied that they awarded six $500 scholarships. The recipients were: Danielle Muhleman and Jayden Hagans from River View, Emily Kobel and Autumn Brown from Ridgewood, and Mykahia Alverson and Courtney Guthrie from Coshocton. Pictured are Guthrie, Brown and Alverson who received their awards at the May 18 safety council meeting. Kobel also attended the meeting, but was not available at photo time and the River View students could not attend because their awards banquet was at the same time.

I started my journalism career in 2002 with a daily newspaper chain. After various stops with them, I am happy to be back home! I graduated from Coshocton High School in 1998 and received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication in 2002 from Walsh University. I also earned several awards while working for daily papers, including being honored by Coshocton County’s veterans for the stories I wrote about them.
