Warsaw Lions Club presents awards
WARSAW – The Warsaw Lions Club celebrated 62 years of service to the community, presented awards and District Governor David Stockum installed officers for the 2017-2018 year at the club’s annual charter night dinner held at Warsaw Elementary School on Tuesday, June 6.
The First Year Lion Award was presented to Travis Mullett, Lion of the Year Award to Donald Smith, the Community Persons of the Year Award to Jim and MaryAnn Williamson for their restoration work at the cemetery in Newcastle and the Life Service Award to Robert “Bob” Buxton. The W.R. “Dick” Bryan Award was presented to Fred Wachtel.
The L.E.O. Club officers were recognized for 2017-2018 and are: President, Augusta Kinzel, Vice-President, Josie Gray, Secretary, Brett Kinzel, Treasurer, Paige BeMiller and the executive committee is Henry Hall, Alexis McCormick and Megan Salmons. The club is made up of River View High School students and is sponsored by the Warsaw Lions Club.
Outgoing club President Chris Sycks received a round of applause from the members and introduced Allyssa McMullen who is the incoming president.
McMullen said, “I’m really excited about our year coming up. I look forward to doing some of our traditional activities as well as some of our new activities that we have planned for this year. Chris (outgoing President Chris Sycks) has done an amazing job. She has taken new steps with our club by leaps and bounds. I look forward to continuing her progress.”
Officers for 2017-2018 are: President Allyssa McMullen, First Vice President Lauren Unger, Second Vice President Dairel Kaiser, Secretary Travis Mullett, Treasurer Bob Buxton, Assistant Treasurer Nick Fischer, Tail Twister Larry Pepper, Assistant Tail Twister Chris Slaughter, Lion Tamer Don Emler, Chaplain Rev. Cordell Brown, L.E.O. Club Advisors Allyssa McMullen and Robert Buxton.
One year directors are: Donald Smith, Emily Smith, Jesse Whinnery and Lee Jane Williamson. Two year directors are: Jinni Bowman, Cordell Brown, Dennis Tumblin and Pat Tumblin.
