Library holds rock painting class
WEST LAFAYETTE – Kerry Addy of Newcomerstown and Wilda Caplinger of West Lafayette, were two of several participants in a rock painting program for teens and adults held July 21 at the West Lafayette Branch Library. The program was a part of the library’s summer reading program, which this year had the theme, “Build a Better World.” Andrea Schweitzer Smith shared with the group that rock painting is a phenomenon that is spreading across Ohio. Coshocton and West Lafayette both have a group getting in on the fun and the library started a new one for people to post on the bottom of their rocks. The idea is to hide the rocks around town and then when people find them they take a picture, post it to the Facebook group that created the rock and then re-hide it. “They are random acts of kindness,” Schweitzer Smith said. After painting the rocks, participants were encouraged to hide them for people to find.
