Student Advisory committee formed at United Way
COSHOCTON – The United Way of Coshocton Board of Control voted to create a Student Advisory committee formed from all four of the county schools. The purpose of the committee will be to educate and enhance their fellow student body’s understanding of the United Way in Coshocton as well as developing their own initiatives to increase quality of life in Coshocton. Students are chosen from the outgoing sophomore classes of each school at the end of each school year.
This year from Coshocton, they have Katie Faver and Shaylee Ackley. Both ladies will be juniors in this upcoming school year. Faver has been on the honor roll and has volunteered her time with Kiwanis Pancake Day, Special Olympics, Clean-Up Coshocton and tutoring at Coshocton Elementary. In her spare time, she enjoys participating in dance and soccer. Ackley has also been on the honor roll and has volunteered her time with various school clubs including Key club, Student Council and FCCLA as well as statistician for wrestling and baseball. She enjoys attending her high school sporting events.
Representing Ridgewood are Waverly Reidenbach and Alexis Prater. Reidenbach is a three-time Supreme Rabbit Showman and in 2015 was the Showman of Showmen. FFA is an important part of Reidenbach’s life, serving as both treasurer and currently is president. She also volunteers with YALT. In her spare time, Reidenbach is a part of the color guard and she enjoys painting, reading and writing.
Prater has received the All-Ohio Academic award as well as the All-Ohio Track award. She volunteers for the Red Cross at Safety City. She enjoys running, babysitting, swimming and baking.
From River View they have Lucas Huston. Huston is in the Spanish Honor Society, Student Council, Letterman’s club, Math club and Rock your World Cultures. In his spare time, he plays on the River View Golf and Basketball teams.
Taylor Silknitter is currently enrolled at the Coshocton County Career Center. She is a Skills USA officer for the Career Center and an ambassador for the career center having completed two college courses. She also has volunteered as a tutor at Conesville Elementary as well as Park Clean-Up and Clary Gardens. In her spare time, Silknitter enjoys reading and walking trails at Lake Park and Clary Gardens.
The Board of Control is delighted to work alongside these promising leaders and hopes their energy and passion for making a difference in Coshocton will be an inspiration to all involved.
