Traffic sign changes to be made on CR 3
COSHOCTON – The Coshocton County Commissioners met Monday, Aug. 7 with Frederick Wachtel, county engineer, to discuss a proposed change to a stop sign at the intersection of County Road 3 and County Road 383 heading toward West Bedford. Currently, the stop sign sits on CR 3 and right-of-way is given to traffic coming onto CR 3 from CR 383. Wachtel asked the commissioners permission to move the stop sign to CR 383 and give right-of-way to traffic on CR 3.
There is also a narrow road leading off of CR 3 onto CR 383 that Wachtel is proposing be blocked off to traffic. The commissioners approved moving the stop sign to CR 383 and closing down the side road.
Wachtel also said that the construction on the bridge will begin next spring. The pedestrian path to Roscoe is scheduled to be the first project and then the bridge and ramp work. He said it is estimated to take three construction seasons.
“There’s a lot going on for the next three years but when all is said and done, I think we’ll be in a better situation,” said Wachtel.
Keith White from the Your Best Barbecue restaurant opening soon on Pine and Seventh Street also met with the commissioners. White proposed to the commissioners that a parking space on the premise be blocked off if and when the business decides to host outdoor barbecues with an open smoker. Cory Wilson from the Coshocton Fire Department presented White with an ordinance that states the open flame must be at least 10 feet away from a structure and/or vehicle. The parking space in question is less than 10 feet away from where the barbecue would be located. Only one slot would be blocked off for the outdoor barbecues, and White assured the commissioners that they would have outdoor barbecues from time to time and that the space would be inaccessible mostly on the weekends when the barbecues would take place. The commissioners passed a resolution giving White and his business exclusive rights to block off the space only when needed for safety concerns.
The commissioners also reviewed and approved:
- Signed the treasurer’s portfolio and bank statements for June 2017 as presented by Cathy Williamson, Coshocton County Treasurer’s Office
- Signed a state and local government and Indian Tribe indirect cost proposal for the Coshocton County Coordinated Transportation Agency for the proposal dated July 31, 2017 as requested by Tracy Haines, interim director
- Signed a purchase agreement for the property located at 732 S. 7th, also known as The Hut Tavern in the amount of $30,000 from Patricia Daniels. The commissioners plan to tear the building down and turn it into a parking lot.
