Commissioners review courthouse lighting options

COSHOCTON – Barb Karr and Michelle Turner Ganz of Our Town Coshocton met with the Coshocton County Commissioners on Monday, Aug. 28 to discuss courthouse lighting options. Crosslight Inc. emailed three proposals to the county commissioners and Karr said the board of Our Town Coshocton would like to go with installing a control system and 48 fixtures for wall wash and uplights for a total of $103,499.

“If we’re going to do this, we want to do it right,” said Karr. “It would be a lot easier to just go for it now instead of coming back later to add to it.”

Karr said Our Town is currently putting together a strategy for fundraising. They are hoping to receive pledges from local businesses and individuals and then next year, apply for grants with local foundations. They will also be reaching out to several service organizations to see if they are interested in supporting the project financially.

The commissioners expressed concern over installing the uplighting and also the cost of electric installation. Karr said she would like to return and do a tour onsite with central Ohio sales manager for Crosslight Inc., Dan Boggess, who can hopefully answer their questions and concerns.

They are hoping to have the project completed by Christmas 2018.

The commissioners also reviewed and approved:

  • A motion to receive and review the July 2017 bank statements as well as the investment portfolio from Cathy Williamson, Coshocton County Treasurer’s Office.
  • A motion to sign a purchase and sale agreement with Gannett GP Media, Inc., a Delaware Corporation for the purchase of property located at 550 Main St. and Sixth Street, Coshocton, OH in the amount of $275,000.
  • A motion to sign Resolution 2017-36, a resolution accepting the amounts of rates as determined by the budget commission and authorizing the necessary tax levies and certifying them to the County Auditor
  • A motion to sign the Housing Semi-Annual Program Income Report for the period Jan. 1, 2017 through June 30, 2017.
