Rogers hired to lead county recycling and litter prevention program
COSHOCTON – Tammi Rogers has changed titles and offices, but she is still here to serve the community.
Rogers, the former program assistant, agriculture & natural resources & county master gardener volunteer coordinator for OSU Extension Coshocton County is the new Coshocton County Recycling & Litter Prevention Program Manager & Education Specialist.
“I came home from vacation and was reading ‘The Beacon’ when I noticed the job announcement and started thinking about if this was a direction I wanted to go,” she said. “I loved my old job and learning about bugs and plants, but sometimes you get the feeling it’s time to try something new.”
Rogers started her new position on Aug. 28 and has two employees, Mike Carroll and Tim Beck working with her to help the community with recycling issues and projects.
“One of the programs I’m excited about is getting out into the schools and out into the public at events like First Fridays and the county fair and doing outreach,” she said. “I want to talk to people and find out if they think we are doing a good job, find out what questions they might have and how we can make recycling more accessible to them.”
Rogers plans to keep the program’s website and Facebook page updated with information and event details.
“I also want to go out with the guys to pick up recycling trailers and see how the process goes,” she said. “We will streamline things if we need to and see if we have to move some trailers to make them more accessible. I just really want to take a look at things and make sure everything is efficient.”
Two ideas that she is working on are another scrap tire event and a shredding day like her counterpart in Fairfield County does to help people safely get rid of paperwork with private information on it.
“I just really want to find out what is out there that we can and can’t do and what’s feasible for us to do,” Rogers said. “I also want people to know that I’m available to speak to their groups.”
Anyone with questions is welcome to contact her at 740-295-4813, e-mail tammirogers@coshoctoncounty.net or visit the Coshocton County Recycling & Litter Prevention Facebook page.
“We also have the barn at the fair that I’ll be manning and have a short survey for people to fill out so we can get a better idea of how we can help and what they’d like to see,” Rogers said.
