COSHOCTON – When Cathy Ames first saw everyone at the Coshocton Christian School decked out in scarlet and gray on Aug. 31, she thought it was just a Buckeye party. However, they weren’t just kicking off OSU’s football season. They were honoring Ames.

“I was very surprised, but I should have known better,” she said.

Ames, a huge Buckeye fan, retired from the Coshocton Christian School after being the physical education teaching there for nine years.

“The kids have been great,” she said. “During my years here we’ve had great principals and fine people to work with.”

Taking Ames’ place in the gym is Jessica Hamilton who also teaches preschool at the Christian School.

“I told her I have big shoes to fill, but she gave me this quote that I loved when she said not to fill her shoes, but to make my own footprints,” Hamilton said.
