Coshocton Ministerial Association to host community prayer event
COSHOCTON – Today’s students are growing up and facing issues in a world that others would have never imagined just a few years ago. However, the reality is that most students in today’s schools face unimaginable problems in their home life and already have burdens placed on them when they enter school each day.
The Coshocton Ministerial Association is sponsoring a community time for prayer for our local schools on Sunday, Sept. 24 at Hopewell School beginning at 6 p.m. Residents of Coshocton County are invited to come and pray for each district in the county.
“One of our concerns is our kids in our schools,” said Rev. Joe Sanders, who organized this event. “We want them to be in a positive place. We know that teachers handle more than just reading, writing and arithmetic stuff today. Kids are growing up in a hard world these days.”
Teachers, secretaries, principals, coaches, and superintendents are faced with more challenges in today’s school system than ever before.
“These kids are growing up in broken homes or with alcohol and drugs,” said Sanders. “Then there are kids growing up with both mom and dad in the home, but mom and dad are scraping by just to make ends meet.”
During the event, each school in the district will be recognized and asked about one need in their school and then pray for that need to be fulfilled.
“We want to make sure that schools know pastors and people sitting in the congregation are behind them,” said Sanders. “We support them and we want to be helpful to them.”
The American culture has also changed drastically, especially with the influx of social media sites.
“That impacts kids,” said Sanders. “We want to be sensitive to changes in our world, but our concern as pastors is to make sure kids know that God loves them.”
