West Lafayette adds farmers market

| September 22, 2017

WEST LAFAYETTE – Coshocton County has a brand new farmers market.

The West Lafayette Farmers Market is held Saturdays from 1 to 4 p.m. in Burt Park. The new event started on Sept. 16, will continue on Sept 23 and will be held every Saturday in October.

“Set up is free, but park donations are welcome,” said Sara Warne, who started the market up.

Anyone interested in setting up at the market can call her at 740-693-4053. Warne asks everyone to follow farmers market guidelines found at http://codes.ohio.gov/oac/901%3A3-6.

“Homemade and homegrown items are welcome,” she said. “I am also offering small businesses and non profits the opportunity to sell. If anyone has a question, they can give me a call.”

During the market the West Lafayette Volunteer Fire Department is making fries and fried bologna sandwiches. In October, JB’s Smokin’ Barbeque will join the market every Saturday, except Oct. 21. Warne is still seeking someone willing to provide musical entertainment for tips.

“I thought it (the market) would offer businesses as well as nonprofits an even greater opportunity to get out in front of consumers,” she said. “It also gives individuals more of an opportunity to buy locally while putting our beautiful park to good use. The village farmer’s market gives us an opportunity to reminisce with old friends while making some new ones.

The Village Farmer’s Market will run through October and Warne said if all goes well, it will become an annual event starting earlier in the year in 2018.
